Digital and other technologies are revolutionizing healthcare by enabling remote monitoring of patients. Today’s WSJ reports on a study that shows do-it-yourself gadgets such as blood pressure monitors work well only when patients are supported by digital monitoring and additional counseling.
While remote monitoring and the analytics of data collected via the devices hold great promise, several challenges need to be addressed: security and privacy, patient training in use of gadgets, real-time processing, maximal use of health analytics, etc.
